UFIP: Disks

UFIP are making different lines of cymbals. All professional cymbals are roto-cast bronze, prepared at the UFIP factory. Their budget lines Kashian and Kashian 2000, however, are made of brass and B8 bronze, respectively. These cymbals are made from pre-shaped disks UFIP buys from other companies. The disks are hammered and lathed by machines.

Brass is also used for special and oversized instruments, that cannot be made of bronze, because their size would exceed the capacity of the roto-cast device. I had the chance of playing a 32'' Medium Orchestra cymbal. For obvious reasons, that was the biggest ride sound I ever heard! These cymbals definitely defy the common opinion that brass cymbals are always inferior, low quality instruments.
