How can Admiral Piett come from Pokrovsk?

How is it even possible that Admiral Piett is from Pokrovsk when the Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk / Покровськ was not called Pokrovsk yet but Krasnoarmiisk / Красноармійськ when we wrote our stories?

When we included supporting characters like Piett from the Star Wars films in our stories, we wanted to add to their backgrounds and personalities. As the novelisation of the films did not provide any indications about this and no first names, we invented our own.

Alex was the first who made Admiral Piett a major character in her story and therefore invented much of his background and character. She chose his first name, home planet, and his hobbies.

At the time she was very fascinated by Grigori Rasputin, the famous Russian mystic, faith healer, and womaniser. In his honour, she named Admiral Piett Grigori and called his home planet after Rasputin’s birthplace in Siberia, Pokrovskoye. She dropped the last three letters of the name to turn it more Star Wars-y.

This is how Admiral Grigori Piett became a native of Pokrovsk. As it turned out he is not from 'Russia' but 'Ukraine', which is a far better choice I think.
