Evolutionary pathways are increasingly utilised to understand the production and perception of the various forms of artistic expression: music and dance, built environment, visual and verbal art. We believe that an even better understanding of Homo musicus, Homo pictor and Homo poeta can be reached when an interdisciplinary approach is taken.
Our project is designed to contribute to the incipient interdisciplinarity in the field of evolutionary art research. Methodologically the focus of research lies in cultural comparison as well as in the consideration of early evidences of art.The major general issue of this access can be called: Anthropological universals of art and its cultural specifica.
